I installed your forum some time ago and it has been working great. My sites usage has started increasing a little recently and I found that we are getting an error when trying to send PMs. Im not sure when it started, or what the cause is. My knowledge is pretty limited, which is why I really liked the wiki format as well as your forum plugin, they were really easy to install and use with (so far) little to no maintenance.
Here is pic of the error ive been getting.
I would also like to know if there is a way to show the entire thread title or as much as there is room for when displaying recent posts. I have a recent posts section on my wikis homepage but the titles are cut very short.

Thanks for your great plugin, I hope the answers to my questions are simple :P

Your using an older version of the forum, 2.4.1, try upgrading to 2.4.3 or better yet to the 2.5.x beta.
For the thread titles:

Thanks, Ive got the thread titles fixed.
Under Forum-update installer, there are no updates listed. Does this mean I need to download and install a newer version manually? If I do this will the existing threads etc.. remain with the new functionality of the newer version?
Thanks for your help,
narfi

Yea, you have to download the update files from the this site and then upload them to your wiki (just like you did when you first installed the forum). After that, you have to run the "Forum-update installer".
All your current threads will remain the same.
No matter what version of the forum you are upgrading to, your threads, PM, everything will stay, nothing will ever be deleted.

Well I uploaded the 2.5.7 version over my existing installation and ran into some problems.
It appears that the Forum menu is showing up on the left side of my wiki, which is a nice feature. But I can not access the forum or my special pages. Also it appears that the formatting somehow got screwed up on my main menu on the left, the Members link looks like (Start bold, I cant type it because it just shows as bold then in my post )Members</b>
Not sure what I did wrong, any ideas?
thanks,
narfi

Not sure if im doing a bad thing or not.. I thought maybe the earlier version had files that the newer one doesn't and they are conflicting. So I am deleting the entire extension from my site, then ill upload it fresh.
Ill let you know how it goes.

That did the trick!
Now for my next set of questions.
forum_info>
showall=false
</forum_info>
doesn't seem to be showing recent posts anymore. Is there a new set of code for the newer version?
I really like the whos here now feature! does it include everyone viewing the entire wiki? or just the page you are on?
The forum seems to be formatted differently (no separator lines etc.) Is this how its supposed to be? Is there a how-to for changing the format to break up the separate threads and posts?
Thanks for all your help,
narfi

Forum >> Admin >> Forum Config Settings >> Forum Tag Option's -> "Forum Tag for Wiki: What Forums to get info from. Seperate forum ID's with a comma ( , )"
You can check the help page there to, just added alittle info.
Whos here works for the whole wiki, but its alittle buggie with wiki pages.
Forum Admin Skin Templates
Selece 'thread' from the dropdown menu, edit, then select 'post_table' and you can edit the HTML there.

I think this bit is a little over my head, but thats ok, the new version seems to be up and running well, and I have the recent posts on the main page.
I just tested the PMs again though, and they still give the same error as I gave a screenshot at the top of this thread. Is that an issue with the server im on? I was hoping the newer version of the forum wouldnt have this problem, but it may have nothing to do with the forum, I dont know.
thanks,
narfi

I just tried sending myself a pm on seentropia.com (an almost identical site I have hosted from the same place, though im not as active with it as I am lostrenegades.net
Recap:
lostrenegades.net
Before and after upgrading, sending PMs gives an error.(they do still send)
After upgrading the forum the wiki's logo disappeared, and a link in the sidebar has
b tags visible around it that shouldn't be there.
seentropia.com
PMs seem to work like they should still using the older version.
Thanks again for any insight you may have,
narfi

Hmm... So i went into MediaWiki:Sidebar and changed the description of the link from Members to Society Members and the < b > < \ b > tags disappeared from around it, AND the wiki logo re-appeared. That seemed very strange to me so I changed the description back to Members and the tags re-appeared around it in the sidebar.(the logo remained though.
I am content with how it is working now, I dont really care if the description is Members or Society Members.
So now the only problem I have is the error when sending a PM.
I really like the pm notification pop-up when you log onto the wiki, is there some way for an administrator to send a bulk message to All members? That would be a really nice feature.
thanks again, and sorry for all the posts, I just keep messing around and trying stuff.

I am still having the problem posted at the beginning of this thread. Whenever I try to send a PM i get a 500 error. I get the same problem on seentropia.com as well now that I have updated to the beta version(it was working fine before)
Thanks for any ideas you may have.

The previous version was 2.4.1 for both sites. Originaly though using 2.4.1 I had been having this problem on lostrenegades.net using 2.4.1, now i have the issue with both lostrenegades.net and seentropia.com using 2.5.7
I appreciate your time and help

Narfi...
Can you send me an FTP and account to one of your severs which is having the 500 error, so i can test whats going on ?
If so, please create a new FTP account for me (so when testing is done you can delete the account) or change the Password of your current account (so the password can be changed back once testing is done). What ever you choose, i will need editing rights to the forums files so i can test.
Ive done some peeking at the current forums code and can not see what the problem is.
Hopefully this will also help out other people who are having the same problem.

ok, Narfi
Ive made some changes to the pm file and think its working correctly.
When you have time could you do the following.
Rename your forums current pm.php file to pm.php.old - path is:
/extensions/awc/forums/pm.php
Download and decompress the following file:
http://downloads.anotherwebcom.com/wiki/pm.php_2.5.8.tar.gz
Upload the pm.php from that tar file to your server:
/extensions/awc/forums/
And test out your PM system.
Over the past months ive been making little changes to the forum files on my home server and its possible ive made a change to that pm.php file which i do not rember and it might cause other errors with your PM system, that is why its important to back-up your current pm.php file.
Please post back the results of your tests so i know to make this a perminit change or not.
Good luck.
