Hi all
searched through the threads and didnt see any resolutions for this one. Can anyone explain to me whats required to get these notifications working? they used to work, but now even though i subscribe to the forums i dont get any emails. smtp and everything is configured and like i said "it used to work" just need to know which bits of code to check to make sure everything is ok.
MediaWiki 1.14.0
PHP 5.2.9-1 (cgi-fcgi)
MySQL 5.0.24-community-nt
thanks all. just need to be pointed in the right direction

hi awc. unfortunately not my wiki is on a corporate intranet. if i remove it all and do a vanilla install it may be fixed because as i said previously it used to work! how would i go about doing a fresh install?
forgot to post my version of the forum at the start of this thread

Yup:
extensions/awc/forums/config/
If you made any custom CSS or Skin edits you will want to 'export' them.
Special:AWCforum/admin/css/css_edit_get then export
Special:AWCforum/admin/tplt/display then export
The files will be saved:
/extensions/awc/forums/skins/
and the image folder if you made any edits there:
/extensions/awc/forums/images/
Gonna have to look into the email, seams to be a problem on some private 'corporate' servers.

Met4tron, when you say it used to work...
Was the working forum the same version as the none working ?
If not can you post the version of the working.

im using forum v2.4
php v5.2.9-1 (cgi-fcgi)
and mediawiki v 1.14.0
thats what i found from some previous threads on here...however 2.4 broke for some reason thats why i upgraded to 2.5.7. 2.4 DID work at some point though

hi awc. done that. is it the case that if i am subscribed to the thread it wont email me only if someone else adds posts to it? because i logged in as someone else and did receive an email. this wasnt happening before so i think your updated pm.php has done the trick
thanks mate!

Correct
If you create a thread and then subscript to that thread, you will only recieve an email if someone else responds to that thread... and ... you will only receive one email "per-session".
If you create a thread, subscribe to it and receive a notification because someone else posted in it, you will not receive any more notifications in-till you view the thread while you are logged in.
So if five people posts in that thread, and you nver read the thread while logged in, you will only receive one single notifications, after you read the thread while logged in and a sixth person posts you will then receive another notification for the sixth poster.
I hope that makes sense, if not, sorry and ill try and explain better.

| i understand what you are saying. can this be changed so every post thats posted gets a notification email. we dont have that many threads so its not going to be spam central if this is enabled. i use this board as an internal board for the IT team to post and talk about current issues. what happens is ive signed up and used a distribution list for my registered email in wiki options. this way whenever anyone posts on my watched thread they get the notification email that a new post has been added. like a crap version of RSS!
