Problem with Forum Installation - please help!!

Hi,
I am trying to install the AWC Forum Extension onto our private Mediawiki (if anyone can help I can add you to our user list). I have MediaWiki 1.7.1 and I think the version of the Forum I am using is 2.4.1 (the current one on the full download).
I have added the require_once line to my Local Settings php, as it says in the instructions, and I have uploaded both the 'forums' and 'includes' folder to the extensions folder on our wiki - I think this was the correct way to do it? But perhaps not because I am getting errors. The Forums (with an exclamation mark in the front) shows in the special pages menu, but when I click on this page to continue installing the Forum I get the following message:
"Warning: SpecialPage::require_once(SpecialAWCforum.php) [specialpage.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/share/mediawiki1.7/includes/SpecialPage.php on line 505
Fatal error: SpecialPage::require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'SpecialAWCforum.php' (include_path='/var/www/web171/web:/var/www/web171/web/includes:/var/www/web171/web/languages:.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/mediawiki-extensions/include') in /usr/share/mediawiki1.7/includes/SpecialPage.php on line 505"
Can anyone tell me why that is and where I've gone wrong? I'm quite new to doing Wiki's so please try to keep it simple for me!

Hello Fmonitor.
As you might have read in other threads, im very buzy right now with "real life" projects and really dont have the time at this moment to trouble shoot.
By the error you have posted, it sounds like the /includes/SpecialAWCforum.php file was not uploaded or maybe misplaced. By you being able to see the forum link (with exclamation mark) in your Special Page tells you have made the correct LocalSettings.php edit and that the /extentions/awc/forum/ folder is uploaded and placed correctly, so no problems there.
If you are just starting out with the forum, the 2.5.x Beta might be a better choice. The reason which the 2.5.x version is still in Beta is that there are a few admin option (the Theme Section) which are not finished, but all the user options are working fine.
