Your all fixed up, Krillmeed.
I donwloaded the skin file form here...
http://wiki.anotherwebcom.com/Category:Forum_Skin_Templates
Imported it to your site via the Forum >> Admin >> Skin Templates page and lost all the skin template (because of a bad edit i made in a file) fix the bad edit, FTPed the fixed file to your server, re-imported the skin template via ACP and everything looks to be working fine, forum names in the search along with the date thing you asked about in another thread.

Dont know why, but you had two skin-templates for everything, which should not be, its all fixed now.

I have always said, a computer program is only as good as its support.
If it worked correctly to start with, then no support would be need
In time things will get smoother (we hope).

Tester, your good to go now also.
Posting a new download now.

OK...
Just made some more tweeks to the 2.5.3, there is a new download (same place as all the other download have been).
This should be the last download for alittle while.
As of now, the only thing which i can think of that still needs work is the Theme and Skin Templates sections in the AdminCP along with giving the Users the option to pick what Theme they want to use, will be working on this next.
Once those options are working i'll send out a "News-Letter" for a Beta Test with the hope more people will help test it out and then if all goes well 2.5.x will be at final release (then im gonna disappear for alittle while ).

Thank You To Everyone

You all have been a really big help and very patient in this 2.5 process.
In the next couple days im gonna write up all the new 2.5 options along with some detailed how-to's.
If you have the time and feel like helping out with this, feel free to edit this page:
http://wiki.anotherwebcom.com/2.5_tmp_info

Thanks so much.

Forum tag
has a problem, if I use the new "id=##" option, the showall=true will not ignore the admin setting for the number of topics to display in the forum tag.

AWC please, please do make these links to jump to the very last post of the topics, it's just so annoying to click, click then roll to the bottom just to reach the latest post.

So when clicking on the thread title, or last action in the forum tag jump to the very last post.

Jumping to the last post from the forum main page does not work on my forum, but it works on yours, dunno why.

The "missed posts" function should jump to the missed post, but also show the later posts in that topic also. At this moment later posts won't show.

The showall=.... will not work correctly if you are assigning an ID with-in the tag, its not designed for the two to work together.
No matter what you are doing with the forum tag, it should always honor the number of threads to be displayed via the AdminCP setting.

Not sure if i understand what you are saying.
Can you post a working example (here or at your wiki) showing me what you want the tag to do ?

So when clicking on the thread title, or last action in the forum tag jump to the very last post.

Clicking the thread title anywhere will take you to the first post in a thread.
If you click the link in the "Last Action" column will take you to the very last post in the very last page of the thread. This is in place in the forum tag, the forums index page, the thread listing pages anywhere that has a "Last Action" column (unless i missed a spot).
Will look into why yours is not working correctly.

As for the page jumps in between, sorry, but its gonna stay how it is for now.
Personally it does not make any sence to me to click on a page number and then want to see the last post in that page... If a person is using the page jumps then they are reading the whole thread, from top to bottom.
Ive played with a few different forum software over the years and have never see what your talking about being implimemnted with out a custom hack.
In time there will be hooks in the forum which will make it easy for people to create there own extension to manipulate the forum how they want... i will keep in mind what you want to do here so there is a hook added just for you.

Agreed, after submitting a post edit you should also be taken back to the post you edited, not it bring you to the first post in the thread (how it is now). Both of these options would work off the same function which i have not found a good way to implement yet, but in time it will work like you said.

Thanks, Krillmeed. You always have positive things to say.

I think the best function for the "forum info" would be something like the "id=##", there could be a "num=##" for the number of topics to display.

My wiki is based around 3 main things at the moment, and it would be nice to show only the relevant topics for each one, so if someone is not interested in "fishes" he won't have to see all the fish releated topics.

BTW there is an other project going on with the forum tag, I'm trying to display the forum like this: [1]

This way it's easier to get the picture from the whole forum, the categories/forums can be easily rearranged if needed, and the topics that have the newest posts will be always the upper ones.

Most of the hungarian forums are based on this scheme, I don't like it either but most of us are used to this.

This was a misunderstanding I did not mean "page jumps".

The main thing which i do not like about this num=## idea is, anyone can use (or edit) the forum tag in a wiki page. If you have a member that does not know any better or a member that is mad, they can enter in something like num=9999 and create a bunch of forum tags like this and try and over load a sever.
From what you have posted, i still do not understand why this option is needed.

Now with the ID=## you can do this, correct ?

I like the collapsing sub-items at the top. Might work something like that into the forum some day

You can change the order of the categories and also the forum sections that rest in the categoy in the AdminCP, forum and cat Edit section.

You want that to be dynamic (the category and forum arrangent) ?

Yes, ID=## makes life easier, but since I use forum tag excessively,
for example:
  • on the main page for the relevant categories but I don't want to display all the topics, just lets say only 3 of them. but on another page I might use the forum tag to display all the topics from one thread.

You are right that abusing num=## could lead to overload but anyone can do the same thing right now, using the showall func in multiply tags on the same page, so it might be an opportunity for hackers.

If the admin could set the max number to display even with the num=## then it would not be worst than it is right now, reagrding the abuse thing.

Nope, I think this is not important, at least not for me.
But the collapsing sub-items would be god sent.

I think a felt over to the "more critics" side...

Why are you pulling the CSS out of the database? I am thinking about trying 2.5 on a high traffic web site, but I don't want to hammer processes doing database lookups for what should be flat file static content. Let me know, I appreciate your input.

Thanks for showing interest.
I could not agree with you more, this link explains:
http://wiki.anotherwebcom.com/CSS_editing_%28Forum_AdminCP%29

The reason behind the move to the database was for the ease of people customizing there css style, sharing custom styles and forum updates (trying to update a custom flat.css can be a mess).

In time the skin templates will work the same, being able to write them to a flat file, but for now the skins will be in the dbase (one extra query).

Yes, you do use it excessively
Now i see where the num=## would come in handy for you.

When you say "all the topics from one thread." do you mean 'forum' instead of 'thread' ?

Just uploaded a new version with a few more changes (main post of thread has all changes), and one is just for you.
  1. Added num=## to the forum tag. The AdminCP setting will over-ride this entry.
Example: If you have your AdminCP setting set to show the maximum of 8 threads and you set the num=9, only 8 threads will show. If you enter num=5 then only five threads will show.

install from 2.4.3. -> 2.5 issue
http://usbvtrisicwww3/cxrwiki/index.php/Special:AWCforum?title=Special:AWCforum&action=install_forum
(Intranet)

The page cannot be displayed
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

I've tried re-installing 2.4.1 -> 2.4.3 -> 2.5 (awc_forum_beta_2.5.rar)

Once I click the "Update to 2.5.3" button then lick the "Install" link, I get the page cannot be displayed.

Thanks for the effort! I manage the Extension:Calendar_(Kenyu73) and just that is a pain to keep up with!
