Forum Update 2.5.11 (08/27/2010)

From Another Web Company

If you are updating your Forum from version 2.4.x and older, this 2.5.11 update is a big one.
I would first like to thank all the beta testers, thank you so much for your time, help and patients. It has been a long road for 2.5.x, but there are so many new features i think it has been worth it.

Note: Mediawiki 1.15.x and above is now needed.

Fixes

  1. Error when using the main search page.
  2. Security Bug

How to Update

If you are updating your Forum from version 2.4.x or older you will have to download the 2.4.x Extra's also (notes below).

  • When updating your forum you need to have CREATE and ALTER privileges for your database
  • Download this 2.5.11 update
  • Upload the /extensions/ folder to your Wiki's root folder (just as you did when you first installed the forum) over writing the existing folder.
    - If you are currently running 2.4.x or older, now upload the contains of 2.4.x Extra's to your Wiki's root folder (just as you did when you first installed the forum).
  • Now go to your forum.
Once there you will be automatically redirected to the Admin Update page.
Note: your forum will be "locked" in-till you run the update script. Members will receive a Message stating your forum is updating.
  • Click the 2.5.11 update.
The update script will run and your done.
  • Full Install - Only for Fresh install.
Do not use the Full Install to update. The full install download contains default settings, languages text and images that will remove any edits you might have made in the past.

/skins/css/

When creating a .css file, You need to make the following folder extensions/awc/forums/skins/css writable.
This is done the same way you made your wiki /config/ folder writable during your Mediawiki install.
You can do this two ways, FTP-Client or SSH to your server.
With a FTP-Client you have to set the folder permissions to 755

SSH Terminal
name@machine:/$ cd /path/to/wiki/extensions/awc/forums/skins/

name@machine:/$ chmod a+w css

/xported_files/

All exported files, CSS, Skin or Language are now saved to a new folder: extensions/awc/forums/xported_files/
You need to make the following folder extensions/awc/forums/xported_files writable.
This is done the same way you made your wiki /config/ folder writable during your Mediawiki install.
You can do this two ways, FTP-Client or SSH to your server.
With a FTP-Client you have to set the folder permissions to 755

SSH Terminal
name@machine:/$ cd /path/to/wiki/extensions/awc/forums/

name@machine:/$ chmod a+w xported_files
